Gingerbread Sugar Scrub

I have been having such a fun time sharing festive holiday posts this year! I love to share handmade bath and beauty recipes. They’re really what got my blog started in the first place as well as my lovely partnership with Willow and Sage Magazine. I love sharing my DIY bath recipes in their publications as well! This year, I figured it was finally time for me to make a Christmas-inspired scented body scrub! Sugar scrubs are super easy to throw together in literally minutes and cost hardly anything to make. They are wonderful gift for the last minute maker and are universally loved by many. This scrub smells just like a gingerbread cookie!

what you’ll need:

  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar

  • 1/3 cup carrier oil (castor, jojoba, grapeseed, olive, coconut, etc)

  • 2 tbsp almond oil

  • 2 tbsp liquid castile soap (citrus or unscented)

  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

  • 1/2 tbsp ground ginger

  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg

  • 1/2 tsp cloves

  • 20 drops doTERRA On Guard (I only used this mix because it has all of the scents I wanted, but you could simply add a mixture of cinnamon, clove, and orange essential oils to your liking!)

directions:

  • In a medium sized bowl, mix together all ingredients until a thick paste forms.

  • Store in a container with an airtight seal. Any DIY beauty product without water will last until one of the ingredients used expires. For instance, if the sugar is set to expire first of all of the ingredients, then it is expired. Store in a dry place.

  • To use: place a small dab, about the size of a quarter, in your hand and mix with warm water. Scrub gently and rinse off completely. You can use this scrub all over your body, from your hands to your lips to your feet!

You can use this scrub all over your body! It works great for dry lips, elbows, knees, hands, feet, or anywhere else you’d like to exfoliate. It’s not a good idea to exfoliate your skin every day, but because this scrub uses sugar over salt it’s a little less harsh on your skin and dissolves quickly in warm water. You’ll love making this quick and easy gift this holiday season! Do you have any last minute gifts to make this year?
