Hello, dears. Happy April to you! I hope that the beginning of your month has been refreshing and enlightening. Last month felt both draining and like a rebirthing process for me. I feel that I go through something similar at the end of every winter. I have decided to shed my old skin and bring light to the parts of me that before felt too vulnerable to share. But that is a story for another time.

Today let’s chat about tea time! Mom and I were so inspired this month by this little box set of Beatrix Potter books. I found them at the thrift shop a few years ago, still in their original packaging, and marked at only $20.00. I believe the tag said it was originally around $125.00 and I was elated! They are the sweetest little books, bound in an olive green binding. Currently, they live on a shelf in my daughter’s nursery.

We thought that our Patrons and our readers might like a Beatrix Potter themed month with recipes inspired from within the pages of her books! We scoured through the tales to try and find any mentions of food or recipes. There were quite a few, but many of them were more suited for mice and rabbits. Things like cherry stones, thistledown, and mouse pie were shared in the stories. We thought these were rather charming, but I would have to pass on a portion of mouse pie.

Instead, we had the idea to create a “Chocolate Mousse Pie” with little chocolate truffles shaped in mice! They turned out absolutely precious and taste fantastic! My kids loved them, and I have a feeling that mouse pie will be served in our home until the end of time.

This book also features lots of fun little tips and tidbits about hosting a Full Afternoon Tea. We found the sweetest tiered afternoon tea set, and got about to filling it! While the recipes in this book do not feature tea sandwiches, you will find that they are rather simple to make.

We baked up a loaf of our Old-Fashioned Potato Bread (this recipe is in the new cookbook!) and cut out the cutest cucumber, radish, and egg salad sandwiches. Yum! Perhaps this month we will share a post with ideas for tea sandwiches.

We chose very lovely and light spring recipes for this month’s ebook. There are recipes for Simple Seed Cake and Scallion Soup. It’s just a precious collection! I am quite happy with how it turned out.

If you are new to our monthly themed ebooks, each month we share a digital downloadable ebook on our Patreon as well as for sale here on our website. Our Patrons pay $3.00 per month to get full access to all of our ebooks, digital artwork, exclusive videos, inspiration boards, playlists, and more. It’s a fun little community that we look forward to growing. We have been a bit absent the last couple of months, but we are getting back into the swing of things!
