Beginner's Embroidery E-Course

In our first ever online course, Beginner's Embroidery, instructor Kayla Haupt will take you on a step by step journey into creating the embroidered artwork of your dreams. If you have ever been interested to try embroidery, or have started only to give up, then this is the class for you! You will learn basic tools, stitches, and even have access to four exclusive patterns, all designed by Kayla. Each pattern features a botanical design with simple stitches. 

This is a self paced class and is great to use over and over again as you grow with your skills. In this course you will learn:

  • Introduction to Embroidery
  • Basic Embroidery Tools
  • 16 Basic Stitches
  • 4 Original Botanical Patterns

This class is a digital download. You will receive an email with a link attached where you can download a PDF file that grants you access to the class and has all of the transferable patterns and other information within (instructions, lesson plans, tips, and term + conditions). We will be offering a limited amount of kits that have all of the physical supplies needed to complete the course. 

This course is online only, so you will need to purchase your own supplies. Here are some things you will need to complete the course:

  • Scissors
  • Embroidery Thread
  • 6" Embroidery Hoop
  • Fabric (preferably linen or cotton)
  • Embroidery Needles
  • Transfer Paper or Pen
  • Access to a Computer with Internet and a Printer

Beginner's embroidery Retreat

Learn the art of embroidery with Kayla in our studio in Kalona, IA! Like our e-course, Kayla will walk you through the basics of embroidery, from the history to the 16 stitches you should know as a beginning creator. You will have access to two original, botanical designs that you may start working on over the course of the class. 
This class will run approximately 3 hours (10 AM - 1 PM). We will learn the basics of embroidery, take a tour of the Under A Tin Roof Homestead and enjoy a home cooked lunch, and then finish up by starting an embroidery pattern.
All expenses are paid with this fee, including all of the supplies needed to start the class as well as lunch provided. 

What you get:

  • 6" Embroidery Hoop
  • Linen fabric 
  • Exclusive original patterns, one for in class and one to take home. Printed directly on the fabric, no transferring necessary.
  • Needles
  • Threads
  • 2 full hours of education on the history of embroidery, basic tools, and 16 basic stitches
