Sustainable, Natural Hair Care with Seed Phytonutrients

While I make plenty of herbal bath and beauty recipes here on the blog, talking about my own beauty routine is something that I rarely do. I have never considered myself to fit into the category of fashion or beauty bloggers, but taking care of myself with products that are both natural and sustainable is something that is really important to me. I have been dabbling in natural body care for over six years now, and over the course of that time have tried dozens and dozens of products that have gone from one extreme to the next. I even tried the exhausting Korean Beauty Routine that used over 10 different products and steps. While it made my skin feel wonderful and soft for the first week, I just started to find that I broke out even worse.

But I finally found something that works for me. For the past year and a half I have been using Seed Phytonutrients hair and body line. They make various bath products from body wash and face lotion to shampoos, conditioners (their new line for specific hair types is AMAZING), and balms and salves. Their company values are amazing: work with small independent, organic farmers, use and protect seeds from over-commercialization, and create a product and packaging that is both beautiful and sustainable. I was all in that long time ago when they offered to send me free samples of their product line, but I was skeptical. Most natural shampoos that I have used in the past leave my hair feeling unwashed, heavy, with product residue, and smelled funky. I mean… I want to be natural, but I also like a shampoo that leaves my hair feeling really clean and lathers nicely. It was difficult to find a good product like that!

In all honesty, I tried their samples way back when to help promote their brand on Instagram. It is something that we don’t do often, and I was grateful that they offered to send such a wonderful gift our way. My review was genuine; over the past several months I have been purchasing their products regularly because, guess what, they work. Really, really well! I love their shampoo. It’s all I use and am always so pleased after washing my hair.

Several weeks ago, we got in touch again and I said I would be happy to try their new line of shampoos, conditioners, and hair care products. They have an amazing new line that is geared towards all sorts of hair types: moisturizing, frizz control, color care, and volume. I was not sure which to pick; I have thick, curly hair that I hardly ever brush and have to let air dry or gets out of hand frizzy/puffy. They recommended their anti-frizz shampoo, conditioner, and smoothing cream. Oh boy, it smells sooooo good!

I like it a lot. It’s a bit heavier than their Daily Hair Cleanser line (which smells absolutely divine with sea salt and bergamot) because it uses jojoba oil. I find that I have to wash a bit less than normal; I am typically a every other day type of person, especially on the farm. If I wash too frequently, it can weigh my hair down. The smoothing cream smells really good, too. I actually like to use it towards the very end of my hair drying rather than post-shower. It works amazingly well!

Each of their bottles is made from a post-consumer recycled plastic liner which uses 60% less plastic than a traditional shampoo bottle. The outside, made from 100% post-consumer recycled paper is also completely shower proof. It can totally get wet and doesn’t fall apart. It’s kind of mind-blowing. Plus they place a seed packet inside each bottle - so cute!

Be sure to check out their latest line of products. You will absolutely love them if you are trying to convert over to more natural products and become more waste-free like me!

xoxo Kayla
