Essential Oil Purifying Linen Spray

Essential Oil Purifying Linen Spray

Hello hello! How are you? We have had a bit of the common cold passing through our home since last week, and poor Tad has been hit the hardest. I am extremely thankful that we only have stuffy noses, coughs, and red cheeks! It could be much worse. I was also thankful that my box of DoTerra essential oils arrived in the mail last week... I was waiting to try their protective blend called On Guard. Wow! It has made such a difference already. I put it into our diffuser on Saturday while Tad was red cheeked and congested, and by Sunday afternoon, he seemed all but fine. It could be coincidence, but I am going to keep it going if it helps. I decided at the beginning of January, after debating for several months, that I wanted to try being a Wellness Advocate for DoTerra... I was on the fence, honestly, because pushing sales is not my strong suit. While I love using oils, I just wasn't sure if it was the right fit for me. I decided to go with DoTerra for many reasons (you can read about them here) because I don't have push sales to remain a member. Plus, the high quality of their oils is really amazing compared to others I have tried and they have many amazing ethics on how they source their plants. I am impressed! If you have any questions about DoTerra's oils, I would be happy to help you out.

To help move the sickness along, I decided to make us an easy linen spray with some purifying oils. It smells so good! And it's keeping the germs away. This herbal recipe is extremely easy to make and can be changed out as often as you like. Find out why I used the oils I chose and how to make it below!

Frankincense, an amazing oil for renewal and soothing properties, it can help promote feelings of peace, relaxation, and overall wellness. It is very effective as a sedative, which may make it a great option for spraying upon your bed linens before sleep. It can lower anxiety, anger, and stress. It promotes deep breathing and reduces blood pressure.

Much like Frankincense, it also promotes feelings of peace and helps to reduce stress and anxiety. Lavender is often used to alleviate headaches, migraines, nervous tension, and depression. I added it to this mix because it can help to induce sleep and for the pleasant aroma. Mixed with the other two oils, it actually smells quite lovely!

On Guard (DoTerra Blend)

Here is the real kicker! This protective blend by DoTerra, called On Guard, is a mix of several immunity boosting essential oils. That makes it really convenient to grab when you need a bit of purity and protection against environmental threats and healthy immune function. It is great for supporting respiratory issues during this time of the year and helps the body's natural antioxidant defenses. Putting this blend into my linen spray is perfect for not only purifying our bed sheets, but allows us the breathe in the healing properties, especially when we are ill! While I am an advocate for DoTerra oils, you can make this blend yourself with any oils... just use Wild Orange, Clove, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary. The blend may be a bit more cost effective! Recipe (16 oz bottle) |

  • 1.5 cups distilled water
  • 2 tbsp vodka or rubbing alcohol
  • 10 drops Frankincense essential oil
  • 10 drops Lavender essential oil
  • 10 drops On Guard essential oil
  1. With a funnel, pour the water and alcohol into your 16 oz amber bottle with a funnel. The alcohol helps prolong the shelf life of the linen spray so that you do not have to refrigerate it.
  2. Drop in your essential oils. You may use any scents you wish, but if you would like the purifying properties, I recommend this blend! If you want a different scent later down the road, you can simply add any 25-30 drops you prefer.
  3. Shake well. Spray away!

The blend of oils smells like winter to me. It is calming and definitely makes me want to crawl amongst the sheets and take a long nap. You can see, too, that Tad's little room is coming along in the decor department. We are moving slow with our home renovations, which has been nice. I feel like there is a big lull with internet activity this month, and that's okay. I am rolling with it and enjoying it myself. I hope that you enjoy this recipe; with its purifying properties hopefully you can keep the sickies at bay in your home.

xoxo Kayla
