"Growing up, I spent my summers at grandma’s house in a small, Northern California town. I remember sitting in front of Grandma’s large, vanity mirror – playing with her makeup and pretending I was a glamorous, Hollywood star like Lucille Ball or Marilyn Monroe.

We would also spend our days in nature, with no ties to cell phones or TV, and visit the small strip of vintage boutique stores for hours on end.

Days spent at Grandma’s house were wonderfully simple. To celebrate my unforgettablesummer vacations, I came up with this lovely yet simple makeup packaging idea.

These shabby-chic tins take only minutes to create, using a handfulof items.

 You Will Need:

Aluminum tins

Vintage paper

• Prima Marketingjournaling cardor other patterned paper

• Antique gold spray paint

• Jute trim – white

Tim Holtz Small Talk Stickers

• Craft glue

• Scissors

 To Make:

Spray the outside of each tin with gold spray paint. Allow to dry completely before putting the lid back on.

Using a circle punch or scissors, cut the patterned paper to fit the top of each lid. Add the Tim Holtz Small Talk Stickers to the patterned paper and adhere to the top of the lid using craft glue.

Wrap the lower section of each tin with vintage paper. Wrap a length of jute trim around the paper, double knot, and trim away excess.

These tins are lovely when filled with DIY makeup powders, but can also be filled with another dry ingredient or project. Use it as a decorative container for baby powder, cotton swabs, and more.

Live simply, naturally, glamorously.
